The management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has strongly refuted recent media claims that its officials were involved in passing false information to Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee and Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, who made allegations of drug trafficking concerning two aircraft that landed at Kotoka International Airport several weeks ago.

In a statement issued by the company on April 8, 2025 and sighted by GhanaWeb, GACL clarified that the landing permits for all aircraft entering the country are issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in collaboration with the National Security, and not GACL as purported.

The statement further emphasised that all necessary security checks were carried out by Aviation Security and National Security, while ground handling services for the arriving aircraft were managed by Swissport.

The GACL categorically denied any evidence of illegal substances being found on board the two aircraft in question.

The company also addressed allegations involving its Managing Director, Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, stating that she has neither met nor spoken to Rev John Ntim Fordjour.

“The onus is on the groups or individuals making false allegations to provide evidence of the claims,” the GACL stated.

Additionally, the company said it would not hesitate to take legal action against any media house, individual, or entity responsible for publishing false, malicious, or intentional statements that could damage the reputation of the company, its Managing Director, or the government.

GACL also warned that any such publications related to Rev John Ntim Fordjour’s allegations would be met with legal redress.

In conclusion, GACL urged the public to disregard the “fictitious and malicious” allegations, urging discerning Ghanaians to treat these reports with the contempt they deserve.
