Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has led a high-level investment mission that secured strategic partnerships to support Ghana’s 24 Hour Economy agenda.

The mission, comprising business leaders and investors from the United States and the United Kingdom, engaged government institutions and industry leaders to explore investment opportunities across healthcare, energy, finance and cocoa value addition. The visit reflects the Ga Mantse’s efforts to leverage international partnerships to support national development through private sector investment.

A major highlight of the mission was a meeting at the Presidency, where President John Dramani Mahama welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors. The President also reiterated his vision for implementing Ghana’s 24 Hour Economy, a flagship policy aimed at stimulating industrial production, creating jobs and improving economic productivity.

The discussions underscored a shared commitment between President Mahama and the Ga Mantse to attract investments capable of transforming key sectors of the economy while generating sustainable employment.

One of the mission’s most significant outcomes was the announcement that agreements have been signed for the construction of a 500-bed specialist children’s hospital and a 24-hour pharmacy facility at Korle Bu, with work expected to commence soon. The project is expected to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure, improve access to quality medical services and support the government’s vision of expanding healthcare delivery while creating hundreds of direct and indirect jobs.

Beyond healthcare, the delegation undertook strategic visits to several key state institutions to gain a deeper understanding of Ghana’s investment landscape.

At the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), the delegation met Chief Executive Dr Ransford ‘Randy’ Abbey, who outlined ongoing reforms to revitalise Ghana’s cocoa industry through domestic financing, increased local processing and value addition. The reforms align closely with the government’s industrialisation agenda and efforts to maximise returns from Ghana’s cocoa sector.

The investors also visited the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) to explore opportunities to expand Ghana’s chocolate and cocoa processing capacity. Increasing local processing remains central to Ghana’s ambition of exporting more finished cocoa products instead of raw beans, thereby creating greater value, more jobs and higher export earnings.

Another key stop was the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), where discussions focused on the future of Ghana’s energy sector, petroleum refining and strategic investment opportunities to improve domestic fuel production and reduce dependence on imported refined products.

The delegation also met officials at the Bank of Ghana, led by Governor Dr Johnson Pandit Kwesi Asiama. Discussions centred on Ghana’s macroeconomic outlook, financial sector stability and the country’s commitment to providing a secure environment for international investment. The visit offered investors insights into Ghana’s monetary policy direction and ongoing economic recovery efforts.

The investment mission highlights the growing role traditional leadership can play in complementing government efforts to attract foreign direct investment. By leveraging his international networks, the Ga Mantse continues to position Greater Accra and Ghana as competitive destinations for global capital.

It also reinforces Ghana’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the diaspora and the international business community while advancing President Mahama’s vision of a modern, industrialised economy driven by production, innovation and round-the-clock economic activity.

As Ghana pursues its 24 Hour Economy agenda, collaborations between traditional authorities, government and private investors are expected to play an increasingly important role in unlocking opportunities across healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, energy and finance.

With investment commitments beginning to materialise, including the planned Korle Bu hospital project, the mission marks another significant step towards translating strategic partnerships into tangible national development.
