Tyson Fury made a spectacular return to the ring, defeating Polish Mariusz Wach by TKO in the 7th round on Friday night at Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, to claim the historic WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt.
This fight was held to support charity and marked the first time the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt was awarded. This special award celebrates the values of compassion, solidarity, and humanitarianism. A significant portion of the proceeds went to the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai organization dedicated to helping underprivileged children and youth in Pattaya and surrounding areas.
From the first round, Fury, the former heavyweight unified champion controlled the fight with his signature footwork, speed, precision, and shrewd fighting style. While Wach displayed strength and endurance, hallmarks of his career, he gradually succumbed to Fury’s relentless attacks.
Fury unleashed powerful combinations throughout the match. Tyson Fury attacked both his opponent’s body and head until Wach’s corner team decided to stop the fight for the fighter’s safety at the end of the 7th round. The scoring at the end of round 7, Visuth Yingaupagarn, Pongpan Rattanasuntorn and Chumpol Intayot were unanimous 70-63 for Fury.
This victory is a significant achievement in Tyson Fury’s outstanding boxing career and also makes him the first boxer to hold the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt.
Undercards results
Heavyweight Simon Ibekwe (7-0, 4 KOs) landed a vicious right hook which instantly knocked Daniel Baer (15-2-1, 14KOs) unconscious, scoring a one-punch KO at 0:28 of the opening round.
Former WBC Asia 175lb title holder Michael Alan Flannery (15-1, 12KOs) dropped Thailander Narong Phumrakson (12-7-1, 3KOs) twice in round 2, and finished the show with a knockdown which forced referee to stop the action at 1:43 of round 3.
Heavyweight Mark Ahondjo (2-0-1, 2KOs) dropped former ABF heavyweight champion Aekkaphob Auraiwan (11-6-1, 9KOs) three times, scoring a TKO at 1:59 of the 1st round.
Heavyweight Arlo Stephens (3-0, 2KOs) dropped Arash Mardani (3-1, 3KOs) once in the 1st round and floored the Irani opponent again in round 2, scoring a TKO with the official time of 2:40.
Cruiserweight Lucas Dassios (2-0, 2KOs) dropped Rattapol Kadamduan (2-2) twice, scoring a KO at 1:56 of the opening round.
