College basketball fans tuning into ESPN for Miami’s game against Duke Tuesday night received a shock when Tiger Woods appeared on their screens instead.

The college hoops matchup was slated to air on the network’s primary channel at 9pm ET Tuesday, immediately after Woods’ debut match in his new indoor golf venture, TGL.

However, Jupiter Links’ clash against Los Angeles Golf Club ran 20 minutes over its two-hour weekly slot.

Despite the match having long been over thanks to a beatdown of Woods’ team at the hands of Los Angeles, ESPN opted to continue showing the simulator showdown instead of switching over to the Hurricanes’ game against Duke.

The college basketball game instead tipped off on ESPN News and fans were left furious.

‘Miami and Duke not starting on time literally because of what’s basically video game golf on,’ one social media user fumed on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘@espn run the Duke-Miami game as scheduled not that dumb indoor golf c**p,’ another added.

‘Why is golf on my screen we are trying to watch Miami vs Duke,’ a third questioned as another asked: ‘I have to sit and watch team golf in SoFi instead of Duke/Miami? Is this the actually programming on ESPN right now?’

One user wasn’t as critical posting: ‘TGL is dope but I’m trying to watch Duke vs Miami. Let’s wrap this up.’

However, their patience appeared to be running thin as they later added: ‘I am currently watching Miami vs. Duke in Español on ESPN3 because TGL running late.’

Others didn’t hold back their fury as some urged the network to cut away from the TGL match.

‘Duke/Miami is starting on ESPNews because of indoor golf?!?!,’ one said with a series of face-plant emojis.

‘Miami and Duke, actual sports between actual teams, is on espnews cuz video golf ran long on espn,’ another raged.

‘Hey @espn!!! Get this fraudulent gold nonsense off and get the Duke – Miami game on!!! Come on,’ one annoyed user urged.

ESPN eventually switched to the Miami-Duke at 9:20pm ET – 20 minutes after ti was initially scheduled to start broadcasting – with the Blue Devils already leading 9-5.

TGL will return to ESPN next week when New York takes on Atlanta Drive in the same 7pm ET timeslot on Tuesday, January 21.

It will mark New York’s second match of the technology-driven league after Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schaufele were defeated by The Bay in the inaugural match.
