Funny Face is a Ghanaian comedian Funny Face is a Ghanaian comedian

Comedian Funny Face has shared memories from his time at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, a revelation that has stirred sympathy among many Ghanaians.

The actor, who has faced mental health challenges in recent years, recounted his experiences as part of his effort to educate the public about what he went through during his recovery.

Speaking on the Real Talk Podcast, he described life inside the facility and the reality of seeing others struggle with personal battles.

Funny Face recalled staying in a room with another patient whose emotional burden became evident every night.

“One of my mates at the psychiatric hospital was a very rich and responsible man. We were in the same room and shared a bunk bed, he was on the top and I was below because I met him there. Every day at 3 a.m., he would scream: ‘Oh Adwoa Serwaa, why?’ And you can’t laugh, even if it sounds funny,” he said.

He explained that the atmosphere at dawn in the facility felt heavy and unsettling, describing it as a moment many patients found difficult.

Media personality Avraham Ben Moshe, who was also on the podcast with Funny Face, disagreed with the idea that these moments were spiritual.

He explained that such feelings were common signs of mental health conditions that tend to intensify during quiet hours.

Funny Face’s mental health struggles have been public for several years, largely tied to his turbulent relationship with his ex-partner, Vanessa Nicole.

The couple, who share three children, separated after a period of conflict that seemed to push the comedian into emotional distress.

In the months that followed, Funny Face directed harsh comments at her and others, including public figures who had supported him.

His deteriorating state eventually led to treatment at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

Funny Face said he hopes Ghanaians will better understand the challenges people face with mental health and show greater compassion to those going through similar experiences.
