The quarter-final stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) features some of the continent’s top teams battling for a place in the semi-finals.

The first match will take place on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Grand Stade de Tanger, where Mali will lock horns with the Teranga Lions of Senegal at 16:00 GMT.

Later that evening, host nation Morocco will face Cameroon in a cagey encounter, as the North African side dreams of making history by winning the title.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, a titanic clash will unfold at the Stade de Marrakech, where three-time champions Nigeria will face Algeria in what is expected to be a keenly contested match at 16:00 GMT.

That same evening, AFCON record holders Egypt will take on 2023 champions Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade Adrar at 19:00 GMT.

Mohamed Salah will be hoping his side emerges victorious so he can lift the trophy for the first time in his career.

One noticeable aspect of the 2025 edition is the absence of major upsets, with underdogs failing to topple the giants as has happened in previous tournaments — showing just how competitive this year’s championship is.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to conclude on January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
