President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced that each of the Super Falcons’ players will receive a 3-bedroom apartment as a reward for clinching the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

He has announced the allocation of three-bedroom apartments and cash prizes of $100,000 (approximately N153m) to each of the players on July 28.

The president also stated that the 11-member technical team supporting the Super Falcons will receive $50,000 (approximately N75.6 million) each in cash awards as a token of appreciation for their contributions.

Addressing the team and the entire nation on July 28, 2025, during the trophy presentation, Tinubu appreciated the players for the historic feat.

“Today, you return home as champions of Africa; we couldn’t be prouder, and it couldn’t be more historic. You made us very, very proud. You made it a milestone in the history of sport. This is the 10th time Nigeria has returned triumphant as the champion of the 2024 WAFCON,” he said, as reported by Vanguardngr.com.

The president further revealed that he hadn’t intended to watch the game to avoid any heartbreak but eventually did.

“Honestly, I didn’t want to watch the match. I didn’t want high blood pressure, but our people came in and turned my TV on to that channel. When it was 2-0, I got very offended and restless, but I was still watching, mesmerized by the indomitable spirit of resilience, determination, and courage. And after that penalty and I saw it was 2-1, my spirit was lifted, and I believe that of the nation too was lifted,” he added.

The Super Falcons won their 10th WAFCON trophy after coming from behind to beat Morocco 3-2 to assert their dominance on the continent.
