For three long weeks, the home of Senior Nursing Officer Salomey Awiti Baffoe in Techiman was filled with anguish and uncertainty. Today, it is a sanctuary of praise, dancing, and tears of joy.

The 40-year-old nurse, who has been in custody accused of abetting the alleged publication of false news on social media, has finally been granted bail by the court.

The bail was set at GH¢100,000 with two sureties, who must be civil servants earning a monthly salary of not less than GH¢3,000.

Ms. Baffoe has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

A Family’s Nightmare Ends

Joy News’ Anass Sabit, who has been following the story closely, visited the family home in Techiman shortly after the news broke. He found a family transformed—from anxiety to excitement, from distress to dancing.

Her mother was the first to speak, her eyes glistening with tears of relief.

“I did not sleep well last night,” she confessed, her voice trembling with emotion. “But tonight, I am confident I will get good sleep. My daughter is coming home to her children.”

The mother’s joy was palpable, a testament to the toll the past three weeks have taken on the family.

“God Has Spoken for the Family”

Her uncle, Abraham Owusu, was overwhelmed with gratitude. He thanked Ghanaians across the country for their support and encouragement since her unfortunate arrest.

“We are thankful to everyone,” he said. “From the president to the first lady, Lordina Mahama, and to every Ghanaian who stood with us. The support has been massive.”

Osei Atta Stutgart, Ms. Baffoe’s brother, could not contain his excitement. With a beaming smile, he added his voice to the chorus of gratitude.

“The family has been in distress for the past three weeks,” he said.

“But God has spoken for the family. We are confident that Salomey’s absolute innocence will be proven by the close of the case.”

The Legal Battle Continues

While the family celebrates, the legal battle is far from over. In Accra, her lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, expressed his happiness at the news of her bail.

“I am very happy that she is finally getting her freedom,” he told JoyNews.

“I will continue to fight for the fundamental rights of the poor, particularly women and the vulnerable.”

A Mother Reunites with Her Children

For Ms. Baffoe’s three children, the past three weeks have been a struggle without their mother.

Her continued absence had raised concerns among family members, who appealed to the government to facilitate her release.

Now, those prayers have been answered.

As the family dances in celebration, the focus shifts to the reunion—a mother embracing her children, a family made whole again.
