    A driver has ploughed through the barricade at the burned-out Michigan church where a former Marine opened fire and killed at least four people.

    A man in a red car drove through the scene at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township on Monday, CNN reported.

    It is unclear who the driver is or what he was doing there, but the driver appeared to have been taken into police custody.

    Dozens of investigators are at the church as they continue searching for victims in the charred rubble following the Sunday morning attack.

    Police are working to figure out the motive behind 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford’s rampage.

    Sanford rammed his car into the church and opened fire during a crowded service, killing at least four people and wounding eight as he set the building ablaze.

    Four churchgoers have died, with at least eight more injured and others potentially unaccounted for after a gunman set fire to a Mormon church in Michigan and began shooting at congregants.

    The shooter, who was killed by police at the scene, has been identified as 40-year-old Iraq War veteran Thomas Jacob Sanford.

    Sanford opened fire on hundreds of people, including children, who had gathered for a service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc about 10.25am on Sunday.

    The man accused of ramming his car into a Mormon church before setting it on fire and shooting at congregants has been identified as a Trump-loving Iraq veteran who was struggling with post traumatic stress disorder.

    Thomas Jacob Sanford, who commonly went by ‘Jake’, was shot dead in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Sunday.

    The 40-year-old father-of-one killed at least four people and injured eight others during his horrifying rampage.
