Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, a renowned Ghanaian media personality, has shared the story of how she started her own TV show, “The Delay Show.” Speaking at the AYA Women Summit, Delay recounted her journey in the media industry, highlighting the challenges she faced and the determination that drove her to succeed.

Delay began her radio career at 17 with Live FM, where she worked for a year and a half before taking a break. She later returned to work with Meridian FM and then Adom FM, where she hosted a program from 12:00 am to 4:00 am without pay, as she wasn’t considered a staff member. However, her time at Adom FM came to an abrupt end when Fred Nuamah informed her that her services were no longer needed.

Undeterred, Delay continued to pursue her passion for media. She worked with Top Radio from 2005 to 2007, playing test transmissions, and later joined Oman FM, where she spent 9 years. During her time at Oman FM, Delay was introduced to television by Felix Anna, who had noticed her during an audition for a news caster position at TV3.

Delay’s television debut was on an entertainment show in Akan, which she did for a season. However, she was let go after demanding payment for her services. Despite this setback, Delay’s sister encouraged her to start her own show. This encouragement proved to be a turning point in Delay’s career, leading to the creation of “The Delay Show,” which has become a household name in Ghana.

Through her journey, Delay has demonstrated resilience and determination, overcoming numerous challenges to achieve success in the media industry. “The Delay Show” has become a platform for entertainment, discussion, and inspiration, showcasing Delay’s talent and dedication to her craft.
