Ghanaian actor and singer Frank Naro has shared the reasons behind his departure from NKZ Music, the record label owned by popular rapper Guru, after just two years.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on July 21, 2025, Frank reflected on being signed to Guru’s label early in his music career, alongside fellow artiste Strongman.

He expressed appreciation for the support he received at the beginning of his journey.

“Big ups to Guru of NKZ. When I started music professionally, Guru signed me for two years alongside Strongman. All the music and videos I released during that time were fully funded by Guru and Ray Moni,” he said.

Despite the positive working relationship, Frank revealed that his contract with NKZ Music was not renewed.

“From there, the contract was done, and they didn’t sign me again,” he explained.

When asked about the reason behind the non-renewal, Frank stated that certain expectations were not being met.

“The reason was that the expectations were not coming, but I didn’t blame them because it wasn’t easy for me when I started,” he said.

He emphasised that he held no grudges over the decision.

“At the end of the day, he’s investing in me, so if he decides not to work with me again, then it’s fine.”

Following his exit from NKZ, Frank released a hit song that gained traction and led to a major collaboration with Samini. The veteran musician eventually signed Frank to his High Grade Family record label.

“I then released a song with Kofi Kinaata, and I got the attention from there. Along the line, Samini said he would help me, so he came on board and signed me.

“The first day Samini signed me was like a dream come true, so that made me happy,” Frank shared.
