New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team member, Ellen Ama Daaku, has stated that the party’s move into opposition will not damage its long-term prospects.

According to her, the NPP has been in opposition before and returned stronger, and this current phase should be viewed as an opportunity for rebuilding.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV at the party’s National Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, she said the NPP remains the most appealing political party in Ghana and will use the next four years to reconnect with the electorate.

“A four-year opposition will do no harm to us; it rather gives us the opportunity to put ourselves together and come back stronger. As for attractiveness, the NPP remains the most attractive political party, and we are going to use these four years in opposition to prove to Ghanaians why they loved us in the first place, and why that love should return,” she said.

Ellen also acknowledged that the NPP’s last term in government was not its best, admitting the party made some mistakes.

She cited both internal and external challenges during the previous administration and said the current political break offers a chance to reset.

“I agree that we made mistakes. Things were not easy in the last administration, and there were both internal and external issues. Ghanaians have asked us to come home, reflect, and return to order,” she added.

The 2025 NPP National Delegates Conference focused on discussions about the party’s future following its defeat in the 2024 general elections. Held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” the event serves as a call to realign and re-energise the party.

A key agenda item was the consideration of 59 proposed amendments to the party’s constitution, aimed at helping reposition the NPP ahead of the next election cycle.
