Daddy Lumba and his family have always debunked death reports about him

Legendary Highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba, whose real name is Charles Kwadwo Fosu, has been the persistent subject of death rumours in Ghana.

As far back as 2013, rumours have consistently circulated, claiming he had passed away.

The artiste and many from his camp have always come out to debunk such reports.

Here is a list of the times Daddy Lumba has been rumoured to be dead.

1. November 2013

Rumours circulated that Daddy Lumba had died in Kumasi on the night of November 1, 2013.

He responded on SIKKA FM’s Sika Mmere show to say: “I’m not dead, I am alive by the special grace of God.”

2. April 2015

Reports emerged on social media claiming he died at Kumasi’s Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Daddy Lumba was “angered” and denied the reports through close sources, calling them persistent falsehoods.

In a December 2015 interview, he stated that over the past five years, he had been repeatedly declared dead while seriously ill.

He noted; “Even Jesus died once, but I’ve died several times,” and warned how such rumours cause panic for his family abroad.

3. January 2020

Five years later, rumours circulated again that he had died in an Accra hospital after being rushed there.

His Public Relations Officer (PRO), Philip Appiah Kubi, categorically denied the claim, stating that Daddy Lumba was “alive and kicking.”

4. July 2025

Another five years later and rumours again are spreading that Daddy Lumba has passed away.

Sources close to the family have denied the reports. But an official statement from the camp of Daddy Lumba himself is yet to be released.
