Multiple Premier League teams are reportedly keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.

Born in Berkshire, Gittens spent time with both Reading and Chelsea‘s academies both joining Manchester City‘s youth setup in 2018.

The 20-year-old subsequently became just the latest young English star to opt for a move to the Bundesliga, joining Dortmund after two years in Manchester before making his first team debut for the club in 2022.

After injuries hampered his initial involvement at the Signal Iduna Park, Gittens has established himself as a key player in Nuri Sahin’s side this season.

On Saturday Gittens opened the scoring in Der Klassiker with a phenomenal solo effort, embarking on a darting run from the left flank before blasting his strike beyond Manuel Neuer.

Bayern would go on to rescue a point courtesy of a goal from fellow former Young Lions star Jamal Musiala, but Gittens’ impressive recent form has clearly left an impression.

The strike marked his fourth goal from 12 league appearances in what is proving to be breakout campaign for the England youth international.

Gittens has also netted four goals from as many starts for Dortmund in the in the Champions League, becoming just the fourth Englishman under the age of 21 to achieve the feat in a single campaign, after Alan Smith and Jude Bellingham.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all said to be monitoring the youngster’s development in the Bundesliga.

Gittens is said to be content remaining in the Bundesliga for the time being, with Dortmund slapping a 100million euro (£83m) price tag on their prize asset to ward off interest.

However, the report also states that Gittens would like to follow in fellow former Dortmund star Jadon Sancho’s footsteps with a move to the Premier League at some point in his career.

Speaking in October, England interim boss Lee Carsley cited Gittens as an example of a young English talent getting first-team experience abroad.

‘It’s definitely something we’re aware of,’ Carsley said.

‘It’s something Gareth [Southgate] brought to my attention – well to everyone’s attention a while back – in terms of the pool of players to choose from.

‘If you look at the 21s squad for instance and look at the U20/ELS squad there’s a lot of talent in the pathway and these players just need opportunities.

‘I think given the opportunities we’ll have a lot more players but the climate is so extreme in terms of how important it is to stay in the Premier League managers are probably wary of giving young players a chance.

‘Because of that we’ll probably find a lot more players going abroad. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is a brilliant example of that.

‘Going abroad to get minutes and play first team football.’
