A rocket that was probably fired by non-state actors attacked the UNP 5-42 camp in the town of Ramyah on Tuesday, injuring four Ghanaian soldiers who were on a peacekeeping assignment in Lebanon.

According to the UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon, the event was one of three attacks that day against its personnel and infrastructure.

Three Ghanaian soldiers needed medical attention after the rocket struck the base close to the Israeli border, injuring four others. It’s unclear how serious their injuries are.

According to a confirmation from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the soldiers are presently undergoing medical attention, a report by citinewsroom.com said.

During a ground invasion of southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) blamed the missile firing on the Lebanese armed group, while Hezbollah has not commented on the incident.

Fired from an unidentified location, the rocket was aimed at an Israeli Defense Force position but failed to reach it, landing inside the UNP 5-42 area of the Ghana Battalion. The soldiers were hurt when the explosion damaged the military quarters and restroom.Travel packages

Three of the wounded soldiers were taken to a hospital in Tyre, according to a UNIFIL statement on X. Five rockets struck the UNIFIL Sector West Headquarters in Shama in another incident, seriously damaging the maintenance workshop but leaving no one hurt.

After a 155mm artillery round hit on November 15, 2024, this is the second time in less than a week that the Shama base has been affected. Additionally, an armed person fired against a UNIFIL patrol close to the village of Khirbat Silim, though no injuries were reported.

UNIFIL has begun looking into these instances and has denounced the attacks as being against UN resolution 1701 and international law. Despite these obstacles, peacekeepers stay in their posts to maintain regional stability by keeping an eye out for and reporting on infractions.
