From L to R: Daddy Lumba, Edward Akwasi Boateng, Daasebre Gyamena and King Paluta From L to R: Daddy Lumba, Edward Akwasi Boateng, Daasebre Gyamena and King Paluta

The Ghanaian music industry is blessed with immensely talented creatives who, over the years, have graced the scene with impressive works of art.

One thing worth noting is that it takes true genius to create two masterpieces from the same beat.

This article explores some Ghanaian musicians who have released two different hit songs from the same melody:

    Daddy Lumba

The late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, undoubtedly made significant contributions to the music industry.

On July 27, 1995, he released his iconic gospel song “Mesom Jesus.”

Following the success of the track, he went on to release another massive hit, “Aben Wo Aha,” in 1998, built on the same beat.

Both songs remain timeless classics and are frequently played at ceremonies both in Ghana and abroad.

    Edward Akwasi Boateng

Gospel singer Edward Akwasi Boateng is also among the Ghanaian artistes who have creatively reused a melody to produce multiple hits.

The renowned musician released “Adea Mepe” in 2012, which became widely popular.

After the song’s success, he followed up with “Makoma So Adee” in 2018, built around the same melodic structure.

    Daasebre Gyamena

Late Highlife singer Daasebre Gyamena showcased his creativity and talent with his song “Ahoofe.”

The track, produced by dancer Slim Buster, became an instant hit.

Daasebre later reused the same beat to create another popular song titled “Obi Mfaso.”

    King Paluta

In 2024, King Paluta made waves with his hit song “Makoma.”

Following its release, he reused elements from the same production to deliver another hit track, “For the Popping (Apicki),” in the same year.
