Ghanaian youngster Forson Amankwah scored a dramatic stoppage-time brace to seal a comeback victory for Norwich City against Coventry at Carrow Road in the Championship on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

The 22-year-old midfielder has had a challenging start to his career at Norwich, having been an unused substitute in the last five matches.

Once again named on the bench for Saturday’s game, Amankwah was called into action with just six minutes remaining as the Canaries trailed 1-0.

Amankwah’s impact was immediate, turning the game on its head in a matter of minutes.

He equalised in stoppage time and then struck a second goal just four minutes later to secure a remarkable 2-1 victory for Norwich City.

These were the first two goals of Amankwah’s career at Norwich, after joining the club in the summer.

While he had already provided two assists in the Championship, this brace marked his breakout moment.

Speaking in the post-match conference, Amankwah expressed his excitement and acknowledged the challenges of not playing regularly.

“I can’t even explain it. Scoring two goals in a comeback win,I’m very happy about that. Everybody was happy. It’s been quite difficult not playing, but after this moment, the coach and my teammates all came to me so happy. It’s a win, so we need to celebrate,” he said.

When asked how this performance might affect his future at Norwich, Amankwah reflected on how the goals have boosted his confidence after a difficult period.

“I’ll say I’m getting there because it’s been quite a difficult time, but this moment has changed everything. I’m really confident now,” he added.

Amankwah now has five goal contributions, two goals and three assists, during the 2024/25 season, with four of those coming in 17 Championship appearances and one in two EFL Cup matches.
