Former Nigerian lawmaker Ibrahim Musa, who represented the Niger North Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, has died. He passed away in Abuja on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after a brief illness.

The news of his death was confirmed by the Niger State Government in an official statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman. The statement described Musa’s passing as “a great loss to the state and the nation,” praising his dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to the people he represented.

Musa, a prominent member of the now-defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), was known for his loyalty to former President Muhammadu Buhari and for his active contributions to legislative debates during his tenure in the Senate. Colleagues and political allies have since taken to various platforms to pay tribute to him, highlighting his integrity, political principles, and devotion to his constituency.

“He was a man of strong convictions, a loyal friend, and a dedicated public servant,” one political associate remarked. “Niger State and indeed Nigeria have lost a great son.”

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days, in line with Islamic rites.

Until his death, Ibrahim Musa remained an influential figure in Niger State politics, often lending his voice to national discussions and mentoring young political aspirants. His passing leaves a gap in the political landscape of the North Central region.
