Ghanaian forward Eric Ayiah has sealed a season-long loan move to Portuguese Liga 3 side Varzim Sport Club from second-tier outfit FC Felgueiras ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 25-year-old striker, who once captained Ghana’s U17 national team, completed the switch before the close of the transfer window as he looks to secure more regular playing time in the coming season.

Varzim officially announced the capture of Ayiah via their Facebook page, stating: “Eric Ayiah is loaned out from FC Felgueiras until 2026.”

Ayiah enjoyed a solid campaign with Felgueiras last term, registering five goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

His work rate and versatility in attack earned him admiration from the club’s supporters, but with increased competition for places in the squad, a move to Varzim was agreed to help him continue his development.

Once a highly-touted prospect at AS Monaco’s academy, Ayiah has gradually carved a career in Portuguese football after spells with several clubs in the lower tiers.

Despite his impressive displays at youth level for Ghana – where he earned 10 caps with the Black Starlets – he is still waiting for his first senior national team call-up.

Ayiah’s arrival is expected to bolster Varzim’s frontline as they push for promotion from Liga 3, with the Ghanaian attacker eager to rediscover his best form and make a strong impact during his loan spell.
