- Had been planning a dream trip to Fiji
An AFL power couple has lived out every parent’s nightmare as their attempt to get away for an off-season holiday to Fiji almost ended in disaster.
Collingwood star Jack Crisp and his wife Mikayla had taken all precautions to ensure their holiday got off to a perfect start.
However, they ended up missing their flight and being left stranded at the airport on no sleep and with their tired daughters Lilah, Sloane and Murphy Jay in tow.
‘Missed our flight to Fiji early this morning,’ Mikayla posted with a weary-face emoji.
‘If anyone has any suggestions on what to do in an airport for five hours with three kids it would be much appreciated.
‘Jack and I both had zero sleep last night, literally.
Mikayla Crisp – the wife of Collingwood AFL star Jack – shared an Instagram story about how her young family missed their flight for a dream holiday to Fiji

Mikayla stressed that she and Jack were not looking for sympathy and thanked Virgin for helping them through their stressful morning
‘We even stayed at one of the hotels at the airport with the plan to get as much sleep as possible but that didn’t work out.
‘Needed a pharmacy ASAP. Airport pharmacy didn’t open until 6am. Flight was due to leave at 6:15 but both being so exhausted thought that it was boarding at 6:15.’
That meant the flight had closed and despite desperate begging from Jack to let them on the plane, they missed the flight.
‘Jack really tried to get us on (to the point he was begging and pleading – we really need this holiday),’ Mikayla posted.
‘But unfortunately we were too late are now booked to fly later this afternoon.
‘Very stressful, overwhelming and exhausting morning to say the least.
‘Thank you to the lovely Virgin staff member who despite being unable to let us on, was so professional and empathetic.
‘Anyway we are feeling very grateful to have found another flight and still heading away to enjoy some family time in the sun. Happy Friday to you all.’

Mikayla thanked her online community for their support after the harrowing lead-up to their holiday
Fortunately for the young family, they were able to get to Fiji later that day.
Mikayla shared happy snaps with the caption ‘just what the doctor ordered’ after their ordeal.
She also shared a gratitude post, saying they accepted it was their fault they missed the flight and thanking Virgin staff for their efforts to help them.
‘Also you’re all so sweet but please don’t feel bad for us!’ she added.
‘We are extremely lucky and grateful to be able to go on holidays, not everyone has that opportunity.
‘Yes it was a stressful morning but we really should have been more organised.
‘It definitely wasn’t meant to be a pity party post, more a well this was our morning, hopefully yours was better.
‘S*** happens sometimes! Appreciate you all x.’
