Benjamin Abbey Quaye, the son of Ghana Premier League legend Shamo Quaye, has stated that playing football in Ghana is far more challenging than in other parts of the country.

Abbey Quaye explained that the primary reason football in Ghana is so difficult is the lack of transparency, which makes it hard for players to navigate their careers.

Speaking with Nkiminimsaah on TikTok, he revealed that he has taken a break from football to ensure he makes the right moves when he returns.

“The last club I played for was Accra Athletics. Now, I want to move correctly. The way Ghana football is, if you don’t move well, you end up wasting your time. There is no truth. Football is tough, but it’s three times tougher here. So I just want to move correctly.”

Benjamin Abbey Quaye was born in Sweden but raised in Ghana. He began his juvenile career in the United Arab Emirates before returning to Ghana to enrol in high school.

He is currently unattached after leaving Ghanaian lower-tier side Accra Athletics.
