The Electoral Commission re-collected the results on Saturday, and two artists, Baba Sadiq and actress Ebi Bright, would not be able to make it to parliament next year after failing to receive a majority of the votes in their respective constituencies.

Baba Sadiq, who had previously been proclaimed the winner of Okaikwei Central with 15,383 votes, narrowly defeated incumbent MP Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who received 14,949 votes, but was unable to hold onto the top spot after recounting.

According to today’s results, Baba Sadiq received 19,368 votes, while Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah, the current MP for Okaikwei Central, retained his seat in Parliament with 21,099 votes.

The actress Ebi Bright, who had previously been proclaimed the victor for the Tema Central seat after narrowly defeating Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by 118 votes, suffered the same fate. With the prior declaration, Forson received 18,421 votes, while Bright received 18,539 votes.

Today, though, things have changed as National Democratic Congress candidate Ebi Bright, who was originally proclaimed the winner, received 18,815 votes, while Charles Forson of the NPP received 18,870 votes. Fredrick Aniagyei, an independent candidate, received 229 votes.
