In a momentous ceremony held at the University of Ghana, Legon, on October 17, 2024, 169 apprentices successfully completed their training under the Greater Accra National Association of Hairdressers (ANAH).

The event, themed “TVET: Shaping the Future of Youth through Mentorship,” emphasised the vital role technical and vocational education plays in empowering young individuals with essential skills for self-reliance.

Miss Ruth Abekailey Tonyigah, Chairlady and National Treasurer of ANAH, encouraged graduates to leverage their skills for financial independence and join local associations to access government support programmes.

“Community-based hairdressing associations offer numerous benefits, including financial assistance and skill development opportunities crucial for business growth,” she emphasized.

Tonyigah also advised the new graduates to maintain focus on their careers and avoid distractions, highlighting the importance of building sustainable businesses.

Lydia Alhassan Seyram, Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation and Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, was represented by Madam Adomako Boateng.

Boateng commended Seyram’s dedication to women’s empowerment through skill development, noting her donation of hair dryers to some graduates to kick-start their businesses.

Seyram prioritizes entrepreneurship, promoting initiatives that enhance women’s livelihoods.

The Greater Accra National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers remains committed to fostering excellence within the beauty and hairdressing industry.
