Nii Lante Vanderpuye is National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Project
The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirants to concentrate on issue-based campaigns rather than engaging in personal attacks and internal rivalries.
According to a report by citinewsroom.com, he made the remarks on Channel One TV on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
He reportedly urged the aspirants to focus their attention on convincing delegates with practical solutions and a clear vision for the party’s progress ahead of the January 2026 presidential primaries.

“I want presidential aspirants to be focused. There’s an internal election. What are the things I have to put before the delegates to show that I will be a good leader to serve them? That is key. But people are now talking about national elections during internal party elections,” he said.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye explained that the aspirants must understand their target audience, the delegates, and tailor their messages toward the development of the party and its members.
“What are the things I need to tell the delegates for them to vote for me? Party development, development of individual party members, the prospects for them, and what sort of relationship you will have with them as a candidate,” he added.

His comments follow comments by NPP presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, who recently declared that he would never concede defeat in any presidential election unless the Electoral Commission officially declares the results.
According to him, such comments reflect an unhealthy level of competition within the party, warning that it could damage its unity and reputation.
He emphasised that the NPP primary should be a platform for presenting solid policy ideas and leadership visions rather than personal attacks.
“It’s not a matter of throwing digs at somebody and not focusing on the issues. Go there with focus. The issues now are how to lead a united party, make the party credible, and inspire confidence in the delegates. These are the things I want all the aspirants to look at,” he advised.
The New Patriotic Party will hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026, with five candidates in the race for the flagbearer position.
They include Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
