    News of legendary musician Ebo Taylor’s death was announced on Saturday, February 8, 2026.

    Amid the glowing tributes that followed, netizens highlighted the profound impact he left on the Ghanaian music industry.

    Widely regarded as a pioneer of modern Ghanaian music, Ebo Taylor was a pivotal figure in the music scene.

    He played a key role in shaping Ghana’s sound by blending jazz with traditional Fante influences.

    The late musician, who passed away at the age of 90, earned recognition across Africa and around the world.

    In honour of his memory, let’s revisit some of his timeless tunes:

    Love and Death

    In 1980, the late Ebo Taylor released one of his most artistic works titled “Love and Death.”

    In the first minute of the song, Ebo Taylor opens with intriguing beats crafted from drums and saxophone.

    The late guitarist followed the tune with a soothing voice as he narrated a love story about how he met a young lady named Afua, “a girl of his dreams.”

    Ebo Taylor indeed brought his A-game on this “Love and Death” peice.

    Atwer Abroba

    The works of the late Ebo Taylor cannot be complete without mentioning “Atwer Abroba.”

    The song was released in 1978 as part of his Life Stories album.

    The late musician blended Fante with jazz on this intriguing tune.

    The song currently has about 307K views on YouTube, three years after it was uploaded.

    Ene Nyame ‘A’ Mensuro

    “Ene Nyame ‘A’ Mensuro”, regarded as a gospel song, has the late musician speaking about faith in God and encouraging listeners not to be weary in times of trouble.

    Once again, Ebo Taylor added his signature touch to the classic piece by blending beats with saxophone, drums, guitar, and other instruments.

    Twer Nyame

    In 1978, the late Ebo Taylor released the album ‘Twer Nyame’, which featured the title track, “Twer Nyame.”

    In this gospel tune, Ebo Taylor blended guitar, drums, and saxophone to create a powerful sound.

    In the song, the late singer talked about how he could not thank God enough for the privileges he was enjoying. Minutes into the track, he also cautioned individuals to refrain from unholy activities.

    The classic highlife album was recorded in the late 1970s.

    Odofo Nnyi Ekyir Biara

    In 1976, the late musician released another classic titled “Odofo Nnyi Ekyir Biara.”

    The song, part of his ‘Love and Music’ album, reflects on the closeness of his lover, emphasising that she is never far away.

    Prior to his passing, Ebo Taylor collaborated with Black Star Highlife and legendary African musicians such as Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti.

    His works have also been sampled by international artistes and featured on albums including Love and Death, Appia Kwa Bridge, and Yen Ara.
