A midday accident along the Ring Road in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, has left five individuals injured, including a young boy who is reported to be in critical condition.

The crash involved a Kia truck carrying bricks—with registration number GX 3456-21—and several other vehicles. According to eyewitnesses, the truck lost control while descending the road, allegedly due to brake failure, and slammed into multiple cars in a chain-reaction collision.

“The truck was moving fast and couldn’t stop. It just kept crashing into cars ahead of it,” one bystander recounted.

Emergency services responded swiftly, providing first aid and transporting the injured to a nearby hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but officials confirm that all five are receiving medical care.

The incident has renewed concerns about road safety and vehicle maintenance, especially for commercial trucks operating in urban areas. Authorities say an investigation is underway to confirm the cause and assess possible negligence.

Meanwhile, traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as personnel cleared the wreckage and ensured the safety of other road users.

Officials are expected to issue a statement with findings and possible measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
