First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama today joined her counterparts at the 30th Ordinary Assembly of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), held on the margins of the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa.

The two-day high-level gathering is being held under the theme “Building Resilience,” with discussions centered on strengthening African communities in the face of global economic uncertainties, climate change, health crises, and social challenges.

The assembly opened with remarks highlighting the crucial role of first ladies in championing social development initiatives across the continent. Following the opening session, the first ladies and their technical advisors convened for a closed-door meeting to deliberate on strategic interventions and collaborative programs aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development.

The meeting precedes the official opening of the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, where the first ladies later joined their spouses at the African Union summit.

Mrs. Mahama, widely recognized for her advocacy in women’s empowerment, child welfare, and community development, is expected to address the assembly on Sunday. Her presentation is anticipated to underscore the importance of collective leadership, social protection systems, and grassroots-driven solutions in building resilient African societies.

OAFLAD continues to serve as a strategic platform for first ladies across Africa to influence policy, mobilize resources, and promote initiatives aligned with the continent’s development agenda.
