    Updated: 01:25 EDT, 13 October 2025

Hamas has released the first seven Israeli hostages as part of a monumental ceasefire agreement with Israel.

The handover of 48 captives – 20 of whom are believed to be alive – is expected to take place in Gaza today.

Israelis gathered early on Monday ahead of the hostage exchange after months of painstaking negotiations involving President Donald Trump finally resulted in a ceasefire agreement last week.

The terror group confirmed the names of 20 living hostages who will return home to their families as part of the deal.

They will be handed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and then to the Israeli military, which will take them to the Reim military base to be reunited with families.
