English-born Ghanaian international Tariq Lamptey has officially parted ways with ACF Fiorentina after the Italian club terminated the remaining two years of his contract.

The 25-year-old joined the Serie A side last summer in a reported €6 million move from Brighton & Hove Albion and signed a three-year deal with the Violets.

However, Lamptey endured a frustrating spell in Italy after making only two appearances for Fiorentina. His first was only a cameo appearance against SSC Napoli before making his first and only start against Como 1907 on September 21, 2025.

That appearance unfortunately ended in heartbreak after Lamptey ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee just 22 minutes into the game. The defender has not featured competitively since suffering the serious injury setback.

Fiorentina reportedly decided to end the contract due to concerns over the player’s injury record, with Lamptey having struggled with recurring fitness problems throughout his career in recent years.

The latest setback also means the Ghana defender is ruled out of contention for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dealing another major blow to both the player and the Black Stars ahead of the tournament.
