While many online conversations portray marriage as a gamble, Ghanaian singer Akwaboah says his own journey tells a different story.

Speaking in an interview with Pulse Ghana, the artiste reflected on his personal life and described his marriage as stable and satisfying. He observed that social media often amplifies stories of conflict and regret, creating an impression that unions are more burden than blessing. In his view, that narrative leaves out an important side of the experience.

“My marriage life is a good one. I keep telling people that sometimes you see some posts on social media talking about the negatives in marriages, but there are also positives in marriage that you don’t have to be scared of getting into,” he stated.

According to him, the real work begins with selecting the right partner. He maintained that genuine friendship and thoughtful decision making should outweigh attraction to status, beauty or financial standing.

“You just need to know who you’re with, find your best friend, and make a strong choice. If you want to go because you’re looking at what they have, in terms of beauty or money, that’s the biggest mistake you would ever make,” he advised.

Akwaboah cautioned that relying on physical appeal or wealth as the basis for commitment can lead to disappointment, since neither is guaranteed to last.

“Beauty fades, and with money, you can even lose your job. But for me, so far so good,” Akwaboah further stated.
