The Government of Ghana is today August 10, 2025 holding the final funeral rites for the late Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed.

The two were among eight prominent Ghanaians who died in the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The ceremony, taking place at the Forecourt of the State House and subsequently at the Military Cemetery, will draw high-profile dignitaries, including government officials, Members of Parliament, party leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Mourners have described Dr Murtala as a principled politician and a fearless voice in Parliament, while Alhaji Muniru is remembered as a dedicated security chief who worked tirelessly for Ghana’s safety.

The atmosphere is expected to be solemn, with tributes highlighting their years of service, personal integrity, and commitment to the nation.

Both men will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition.
