The FIFA World Cup trophy has arrived in Washington DC, creating a real buzz across the United States capital as the countdown continues to the Final Draw for the 2026 tournament.
The trophy visited some of Washington’s most iconic landmarks before being presented at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where preparations are in full swing for December 5’s major event.
Media were welcomed for a first look inside the draw venue, guided by FIFA Legend Rio Ferdinand, who could not hide his excitement.
The former England captain will lead the ceremony alongside award-winning broadcaster Samantha Johnson, helping to determine the match schedule for all 48 competing nations.
Adding extra star power to the event, global sporting icons Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, Aaron Judge and Shaquille O’Neal will serve as draw assistants.
NFL great Eli Manning will host the red-carpet arrivals.
The trophy tour and glamorous build-up reflect the scale of what is set to be the biggest World Cup in history, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.
