FIFA President Gianni Infantino paid a courtesy call on the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, during his visit to Kinshasa for the 47th CAF Ordinary General Assembly.

Infantino, who was warmly welcomed by President Tshisekedi, praised the Congolese leader for his unwavering commitment to the growth of football in the country and across Africa.

The meeting underscored the close collaboration between FIFA, CAF, and African governments in driving the sport’s development at all levels.

“I was warmly welcomed by President Félix Tshisekedi as well as CAF President Patrice Motsepe and other dignitaries.

“DR Congo is a great footballing country, and together with CAF, FIFA will keep striving to bring football to every home here,” Infantino said in an Instagram post.

Beyond his meeting with President Tshisekedi, Infantino also held productive discussions with several African football association presidents on the sidelines of the General Assembly.

Among them were Botswana FA President Oabile Baitseng, Malawi FA President Fleetwood Haiya, Namibia FA President Robert Shimooshili, Zambia FA President Keith Mweemba, and Zimbabwe FA President Nqobile Magwizi.

Talks focused on football development across the region, particularly infrastructure, grassroots programs, and the FIFA Football for Schools initiative.

Infantino emphasised FIFA’s continued commitment to strengthening governance, promoting inclusivity, and empowering member associations to create lasting impact through football.

The 47th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, hosted in Kinshasa, brought together top football administrators, CAF executives, and FIFA representatives to chart the next phase of African football’s growth.
