The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Ghana secured its automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, October 12, 2025, after beating Comoros 1-0 at the Accra of Sports Stadium in front of 35,000 spectators.

In a viral video on social media, FIFA president Gianni Infantino was seen celebrating Ghana’s 5th qualification to the World Cup and securing their place in the 2026 edition.

The Black Stars have now joined Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia as the African countries who have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

After 10 matches played in group I, Ghana topped with 25 points, Madagascar second with 19 points, Mali third with 18 points, Comoros 12, Central African Republic 11 and Chad in sixth place with 5.

Second place Madagascar will hope that their 19 points will be enough to get them a place in the play offs as one of the four best second placed teams.

Otto Addo has now become the first coach to qualify the Black Stars to two FIFA World Cup tournaments.
