A female teacher who previously worked as a police officer for 10 years was busted for dealing fentanyl in a dramatic arrest carried out by the same chief who once hired her on the force.

Amber Williamson, 40, was hit with a slew of charges, including drug possession and armed trafficking, during an arrest at her home in Daytona Beach, Florida on January 23, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Williamson was arrested alongside Marcus Plowden, 28, a man police branded a ‘prolific’ drug dealer by cops.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood shared footage of the arrest, which revealed the moment Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers demanded Williamson and Plowden surrender from their home over an announcement system.

After authorities waited with no response, SWAT officers forced entry into the apartment and detained the duo, according to an arrest affidavit.

Footage shared by the police department showed Williamson handcuffed outside her home in a large gray t-shirt alongside Plowden, who looked dumbfounded as he stood outside shirtless.

Chitwood then confronted his former officer, telling Williamson in a triumphant moment for his team: ‘Amber, you know the good guys always win, don’t you?!’

Before authorities arrived at Williamson’s home, Chitwood said in a video that he suspected the former cop’s boyfriend would be going back to prison, adding, ‘And she’ll be going with him.’

However, Williamson later told police that she wasn’t in a romantic relationship with Plowden, but they did share a bed.

‘Not only is it sickening that somebody who took an oath to protect these streets of Daytona Beach is working with kids, and is out there peddling this poison, destroying families, destroying lives,’ Chitwood added.

The investigation was conducted by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Port Orange Police Department, the East Volusia Narcotics Task Force, and SWAT.

Detective Davila searched the apartment and found narcotics floating in the master bedroom toilet, concluding that someone had attempted to flush it when law enforcement demanded they come outside, according to an arrest affidavit.

Davila said a ‘powder residue’ was found around the toilet rim. The suspects also left a digital scale and several baggies with suspected narcotics, authorities said.

Law enforcement also found a white blender with fentanyl residue on a counter in the master bedroom. A test kit concluded a positive reaction for fentanyl.

An arrest affidavit also revealed that law enforcement recovered bags of fentanyl, cannabis, and crack cocaine, along with pill bottles, loaded guns, and US currency.

Williamson was interviewed by detectives after her arrest. She claimed that all narcotics and contraband belonged to Plowden.

She told law enforcement that Plowden doesn’t work and makes all his money from dealing drugs. Williamson added that he keeps the money in a shoe box near the bathroom sink.

‘Glad to wrap up an early morning with 2 fewer drug dealers running free in our community,’ Sheriff Chitwood said in a statement online after their arrests.

Williamson also told police that Plowden manufactures crack cocaine. Williamson allegedly admitted to delivering his drugs when he was ‘busy or out of town,’ according to the arrest affidavit.

Plowden allegedly confessed to law enforcement that he attempted to flush and discard the narcotics in the toilet when he heard SWAT teams knocking on their door.

‘Marcus stated since he was unable to quickly figure out which bag was fentanyl, he just began ripping bags open in the toilet in attempt to flush evidence,’ the arrest affidavit read.

Plowden has a long rap sheet in Florida. He was arrested and pleaded nolo contendere (no contest) to grand theft charges in 2016, according to Volusia County court records.

He was also convicted of possession of paraphernalia in 2017, possession of cocaine in 2019, and possession of fentanyl in 2022.

Plowden was also previously arrested for domestic battery by strangulation and child abuse, but wasn’t convicted on either charge.

Williamson was hired as a Daytona Beach Police Officer in 2009 and spent a decade on the force before becoming a teacher at Richard Millburn Academy.

Her name appears to have been taken off the staff directory.

Williamson and Plowden are both in custody. Plowden’s arraignment is scheduled for February 17. Williamson is due back in court on February 24 for her arraignment.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Richard Millburn Academy for comment, as well as lawyers for Williamson and Plowden.
