    A recent announcement, made in a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, representing the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared December 25 and 26, 2024, and January 1st, 2025, public holidays.

    The days were given to mark the celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year. In the statement released to the public, the minister warmly greeted Nigerians, while encouraging them to take this time to celebrate the festive seasons with friends and family.

    He said to embrace the season’s themes of love, peace, and unity, using this period to strengthen ties between families and communities, as the unity between these two plays an extremely vital role in the nation’s progress.

    The statement read;

    “The Christmas season is a good moment for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,”

    He went on further to urge Nigerians to use this period of joy and celebration to reflect on their values and reconcile their differences, so that we can embrace each other with open arms.
