Medeama SC’s advantage at the summit of the Ghana Premier League has been slashed to just three points following a hard-fought goalless draw away to FC Samartex 1996 on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellow entered the contest under pressure after surrendering valuable ground at home in a 1-1 stalemate against Aduana FC — a match in which captain Mubarik Yussif missed a dramatic last-gasp penalty that could have secured all three points.

Determined to steady their campaign, head coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side produced a resilient display at the Nsenkyire Arena. Both teams delivered an entertaining and tactically disciplined contest, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough as the match ended 0-0.

While the result demonstrated Medeama’s defensive solidity and character on the road, it further tightened the title race. What was once a comfortable seven-point cushion has now dwindled to just three, with 11 matches remaining in the season.

Medeama remain top of the table with 45 points, but the chasing pack is closing in. Bibiani Gold Stars FC have climbed to second place with 42 points, intensifying the pressure as the championship battle enters a crucial stretch.
