President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to prepare for an era of accelerated development, describing the nation as being ‘in takeoff mode.’
Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address on Friday, February 27, 2026, President Mahama highlighted key achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic reforms, asserting that the government’s policies are positioning Ghana for sustained growth.
“Fasten your seat belts, we’re in takeoff mode,” he told lawmakers and citizens following a detailed review of government programs.
The President emphasised that citizens must embrace innovation, hard work, and collective responsibility to fully realize the country’s potential.

He also outlined plans for increased investment in renewable energy, digitalization of public services, and initiatives to boost job creation for young Ghanaians.
President Mahama is calling on Ghanaians to remain resilient and optimistic, assuring that the ‘takeoff’ is a shared journey towards a prosperous future.
Delivered in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the State of the Nation Address (SONA) serves as the executive’s primary blueprint for the country’s future.
It outlines the government’s strategic priorities, policy direction, and the legislative agenda intended to drive national development.
