The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has called on government to accelerate the implementation of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, stressing that decisive action against corruption public trust and is critical to restoring investor confidence.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu programme, GFL Secretary-General, Abraham Koomson, commended President John Dramani Mahama for delivering what he described as a solid and reassuring 2026 State of the Nation Address.

He noted that the President’s message was comprehensive and forward-looking, but emphasized that the fight against corruption must move beyond rhetoric.

Koomson argued that individuals who contributed to Ghana’s recent economic challenges continue to operate freely, undermining recovery efforts.

He urged authorities to ensure ORAL functions swiftly and effectively, warning that the credibility of the government’s broader economic reset agenda depends on visible accountability measures.

“The address was okay, but ORAL must be fast-tracked,” Abraham Koomson said.

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative was launched in December 2024 to track and recover state funds and assets allegedly misappropriated by public officials.

The exercise was expected to demonstrate government’s commitment to fighting corruption and improving transparency in governance.

However, months after its inception, critics have questioned its impact, citing the lack of prosecutions and the slow pace of investigations.
