The EC conducted the Dagarti-line by-election following the demise of the late Moro Issah, the incumbent Assembly Member, who died a month after he won the last DLEs in the area.

According to the electoral management body, the Electoral Area had 1,803 registered votersspread across three polling stations of Open Space Chokosi-line (528 voters), Central Mosque, lailai (592 voters) and Khairia Islamic Primary School (683 voters).

However, there were nine rejected ballots and a spoiled ballot, in the elections which according to the EC registered a lower voter turnout of 39.82 per cent.
