Family of Daddy Lumba Officially Informs Gov’t of His Passing, Funeral Plans Underway

The family of Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosu) has formally notified the government of his passing, paving the way for official state support in his funeral arrangements.

On Monday, August 25, 2025, the family paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House, where they officially broke the news and discussed preparations for his final rites.

As part of the arrangements, the family announced that the One-Week Observation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex.

Daddy Lumba, who died on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital after a short illness, left the nation in mourning. His death came as a shock to many, as details about his health condition had been largely kept private.

The multiple-award-winning singer, songwriter, and performer was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musical icons, with a career spanning decades and a rich catalogue of timeless highlife classics. His funeral is expected to attract thousands, including top government officials, musicians, and fans from across the world.
