    El ex retador mundial panameño Antonio “Buchi” Amaya, conocido como el “Campeón Sin Corona”, falleció a la edad de 79 años .

    Tuvo un récord profesional de 48 triunfos (10K0s) , 22 derrotas y 7 empates siendo un boxeador con un estilo muy técnico y estilista.

    Amaya logro pelear en Venezuela, Argentina, Filipinas, Mexico, Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Japón, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Francia, Colombia, República Dominicana, Sudáfrica, España e Italia ha sido el panameño que peleo en la mayor cantidad de países.

    Se enfrento a conocidos como: Julio Ruiz, Baby Luis, Luis Patiño, Freddie Rengifo, Frankie Narvaez, Sugar Ramos, Chango Carmona, Ramiro Bolaños, Alvaro Rojas, Alfredo Escalera, Ould Makloufi, Kuniaki Shibata, Vilomar Fernandez, Nkosana Mgxaji, Diego Alcalá y Juan José Giménez entre otros.

    Hizo grandes peleas ante los japoneses Hiroshi Kobayashi , Kuniaki Shibata y el cubano Mexicano Ultiminio “Sugar” Ramos a quien venció en una noche histórica en enero de 1971 en la histórica Plaza de Toros Monumental en Monterrey, Mexico .

    El 6 de abril de 1969 y el 23 de agosto de 1970 celebró inolvidables combates por el campeonato mundial superpluma con el campeón japones Hiroshi Kobayashi. En una perdió por decisión dividida y en la otra unanime. El mundo del boxeo considero que en ambas ocasiones Amaya debio haber sido favorecido con la decision de los jueces en el Kokigan y en el Korakuen Hall dos templos sagrados del boxeo Japones.

    El 27 de junio de 1974 perdio por una cerrada decision mayoritaria por el campeonato mundial superpluma del WBC con el recordado campeon japones Kuniaki Shibata.
