Former English striker Darren Bent has hailed Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey for his incredible performance in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on October 27, 2024.

According to him, there were doubts about Partey ability to deal with Liverpool’s attacking threat because he was playing in an unusual position. However, he proved critics wrong.

Bent stated that the Black Stars midfielder prevented Liverpool winger Luiz Diaz from excelling in the game due to his good tackles, which forced coach Arne Slot to substitute him.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa striker noted that Partey’s exceptional performance helped Arsenal secure a draw against Liverpool.

“Thomas Partey played like old-fashioned fullbacks where the first challenge, they go on the wide, he did that on Luis Diaz and it’s almost like he went down. Then they started putting the ball over the top because Partey is not the quickest.

“But I think it worked and that’s why they took him [Luiz Diaz] off because after a while he just couldn’t get better of Partey and that was one area I thought he was outstanding and exceptional,” he said.

Thomas Partey played at the right wing-back position for Arsenal in their game against Liverpool, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Following the drawn game, the Gunners’ title hopes are still on track as they lie third on the league table with 18 points, with Manchester City leading with 23 points.
