Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway has added yet another chapter to his growing legacy, helping Scottland FC capture the 2024/25 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

Scottland dominantly sealed the championship, thrashing Kwekwe United 5–1 on Matchday 32 to reach 65 points, a result that confirmed them as champions with games to spare.

The triumph marks a remarkable debut season in the top flight for the Mabviravira, who became only the second club since Zimbabwe’s Independence to win the Premier League in their first season.

For head coach Tonderai Ndiraya, the success represents back-to-back league titles, following his triumph with Simba Bhora in 2024.

But for Botchway, it’s a personal milestone, proof of his consistency and quality since leaving Ghana for southern Africa.

The 29-year-old Ghanaian has been a central figure in Scottland’s midfield this season, dictating play and providing leadership in a youthful side that defied all expectations.

His influence has seen him emerge as one of the most admired foreign players in Zimbabwe’s domestic scene.

Before his move abroad, Botchway enjoyed a trophy-laden spell with Accra Hearts of Oak, winning the Ghana Premier League (2020/21), two FA Cups (2021, 2021/22), the Super Cup (2021), and the President’s Cup (2022).

He later joined FC Samartex before moving south to continue his career.

His success in Zimbabwe began at Dynamos FC, where he lifted the Chibuku Cup during the 2023/24 campaign, before joining Scottland FC ahead of the current season.
