Former IBF 130-pound champ Kenichi Ogawa (32-2-1, 22 KOs), 131.75, defeated Filipino Rhonvex Capuloy (14-5-3, 11 KOs), 129.75, winning a unanimous decision (99-91 twice, 98-92) over ten hot rounds on Saturday at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan. Ogawa, 38, previously forfeited his IBF belt at the hand of Joe Cordina via second round knockout in Cardiff, Wales, in 1922. Since then Kenichi remained unbeaten afterward, but the Filipino Caputoy was tougher and more durable than expected although the muscular Japanese veteran had the upper hand all the way. Ogawa is gunning for a world title shot to regain his belt.
