The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFA Ghana) paid a poignant visit to the family of the late Manuel Junior Agogo on Friday, August 22, 2025, marking the sixth anniversary of his passing.

Among those who made the solemn journey were Andre Dede Ayew, Prince Tagoe, Agyemang Badu, Jerry Akaminko, John Mensah, Haminu Dramani, and Anthony Baffoe, former teammates and colleagues, honouring a cherished striker.

Junior Agogo, who died in London on August 22, 2019, at the age of 40, had been battling the debilitating effects of a stroke since 2015. His death came just days after he celebrated his birthday, and the football fraternity mourned deeply.

Born in Accra, Agogo started his professional journey with Sheffield Wednesday and ventured across several continents during his career, playing for clubs in England, including Bristol Rovers and Nottingham Forest, as well as in Egypt, Scotland, Cyprus, and the United States, where he featured in the MLS.

On the international stage, he was beloved by many Ghanaians for his explosive performances during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

His three goals helped Ghana to a bronze medal finish, cementing his place in national folklore.

Agogo scored 12 goals in 27 appearances for the Black Stars.
