Former Black Stars Captain, John Mensah also nicknamed “Rock of Gibraltar” has reflected on his career and time with the Ghana national team.

According to John Mensah who was part of Ghana’s golden generation in the 21st century, he had a great career but would have wished to win a trophy with the Black Stars.

Mensah who is an ambassador for the 2025 Democracy Cup told GhanaWeb in an interview that despite their inability to win a trophy, he has no regrets in football.

“We tried our best to take trophies during our time but we just couldn’t do it. Winning a trophy with Ghana would have been great.”

PAC Academy’s Stephen Appiah reportedly passes away

“When you take a look at most tournaments we played, we either got to the final or semifinal but always come short of the gold,” Mensah noted.

Mensah recorded 86 appearances for the National team and he captained the team at the 2008 AFCON, 2010 AFCON and the first ever FIFA World Cup tournament on African soil in South Africa.
