Former minister under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh also known as NAPO, has attributed his political success and influence to divine intervention, stating that God’s favour has been the driving force behind his career.

In a snippet from his interview on the Personality Profile show, which he shared on his X page on August 24, 2025, Prempeh emphasised his reliance on faith.

“Every step I make, I seek God first. So, if you look at my political journey, it’s nothing but pure goodness and mercy,” he said.

He highlighted his time as the Minister of Education as a proof of his claim, noting that despite working with over 100 associations and unions, there were no strikes during his four-year tenure.

“It can only be God,” he remarked.

Dr Prempeh further expressed gratitude by quoting a powerful biblical passage, Psalm 124:1-8 NKJV, to credit God for his influence while serving as a minister under the Akufo-Addo administration.

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, let ‘Matthew Opoku Prempeh’ now say,” he began, adding, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive, when their wrath was kindled against us.”

The former minister continued, explaining that without God’s help, he and his colleagues would have been “overwhelmed” and “swallowed alive” by their opponents.
