Tony Yeboah’s name is etched in Premier League history for goals that combined flair, power, and precision, and Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has taken a closer look at the Ghanaian legend’s most celebrated strikes.

Reflecting on Yeboah’s thunderous volley against Liverpool at the start of the 1995/96 season, Ampadu was full of praise for the technique used by Yeboah, thus giving it a five-star rating.

“I’ve seen this before, and I’ve tried to recreate something like this, and I can promise everyone, it’s not going that way.”

“That’s like a dream goal you want. In the air, come down to volley. It’s a great goal. This is like a dream goal for me, I’ll give it a five,” he said.

Ampadu’s admiration for the goal captures why Yeboah’s strike has become a benchmark for athletic brilliance.

The ball cannoned off David James’s fingertips and the underside of the bar, leaving spectators in awe and setting the tone for a season that would see Yeboah crowned Leeds United Player of the Year.

Turning to the equally mesmerizing goal against Wimbledon, Ampadu highlighted the technical mastery required.

“People don’t realise, but it’s a fake shot with the left foot, and put it away with your right. I think he’s made that very easy, but that is a very hard skill to do. I think that’s a pretty special one. But with the flair, I’ll give it four stars.”

Ampadu’s analysis not only underscores Yeboah’s natural talent but also reflects a personal connection, with the Leeds captain drawing inspiration from a fellow Ghanaian.

His breakdown emphasizes the blend of technique and creativity that defined Yeboah’s career at Elland Road, from the chest control and thunderbolt against Wimbledon to the gravity-defying volley at Anfield.
