Ghana Football Association (GFA), President , Kurt Okraku, has called on the Minister for sports and recreation, Kofi Adams to provide special support for Ghanaian clubs participating in the CAF Inter Club competitions.
Okraku is urging the government to step in and support the clubs who have financial burdens because they represent the country in CAF tournaments.
The GFA president made this call to the Minister while addressing the football Community at the 31st Ordinary Congress organized on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Centre for Excellence in Prampram.
“We also call on the government to establish a dedicated national support fund for clubs representing Ghana in the CAF-organised competitions such as the Champions League and the Confederation Cup,” he said during the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress”.
“These clubs carry the national flag and indeed need logistical, financial and institutional support to succeed on the African continent.”
Bibiani GoldStars and Asante Kotoko are set to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively while Police Ladies, who won the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, will play in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers.
